Problem Solving & Machine Learning Laboratory
Susan L. Epstein is a Professor of Computer Science at Hunter College and The Graduate Center of The City University of New York. Trained first as a mathematician and then as a computer scientist, her approach to cognition is based on the rigor of mathematics and the pragmatism of knowledge representation. She continues to collaborate and work with scientists from a broad variety of fields, including robotics, microbiology, psychology, linguistics, and geography. Dr. Epstein serves as the Ethics Chair to the Executive Council for The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and is Hunter’s Undergraduate Research Training Coordinator. As a co-PI on The National Science Foundation’s Center for Brains, Minds, and Machines, she has also pioneered an introductory undergraduate course on computational cognitive neuroscience.
